7 Day Community Homes
Roslevin Lawns
As part of the normalisation programme in 1989 the Midland Health Board opened a 7 day community home in Roslevin Lawns as a step towards removing people from the institutionalised setting and giving them the opportunity to live in a community environment.
The overall principle of care within the unit is based on the person centred approach which enables each individual with a disability to achieve his / her full potential and maximise independence, including living within the community as independently as possible.
Aims / Objectives:
The main aim is to give the residents a pride of place and belonging.
Activities:
Leisure time includes activities such as going to the cinema, taking a walk, going for a pint, going dancing, taking in a concert, going to a hurling / football match, going away for a weekend, going on an annual holiday, members of the gym / pool centre, mentioning just some of their interests. Rest time involves taking time to relax as they choose, for example listen to music, look at their favourite soaps, look at films and have a beer, make jig-saws, listen to football / hurling on the radio or look at it on T.V. or just sit down and chill out.

Clonbrock Court
Clonbrock court is a 7 day residential home which was opened in 2001. The unit promotes independent living and therefore the 5 residents take full responsibility for the day to day running of their home within a supervised setting.
All staff planning is formed around a person centred ethos and takes into consideration John O'Brien's 5 core values of dignity, respect, choice, inclusion and support, these 5 principles are the foundation for all of our work practice initiatives.
Overview of Activities:
- Inviting friends over for a movie or for dinner.
- Drama therapy & art therapy.
- Annual Holidays.
- Sport e.g. Gym, pool, football, basketball.
- Participation in outreach / leisure buddies.
