Respite Services
Old Bog Road
This service opened in 1987 and was originally based in Sli-an-Aifrinn, Athlone but moved to its purposed built premises in Coosan, Athlone in 2009.This house offers respite to people with a severe / profound intellectual disability.
Its environment is a home from home one to the people who attend the service and caters for persons from the age of 6 upwards with a severe / profound intellectual disability are able to avail of this service within resources.
Aims and Objectives :
The primary focus for all individuals is personal dignity and includes the following:
- All people (children and adults) have the opportunity for and the right to growth and development.
- All people (children and adults) have the right to live in an environment that maximises their progress towards independent community living.
- The needs of the individual and their family are considered in the individual service plan.
- Achieving the person's maximum potential within the resources available which include mobility, speech and language impairment, visual and hearing impairment and behaviours that challenge.

Teach Saoire
Teach Saoire is a respite house, which opened its doors in February 2005. Located on the outskirts of Moate, this respite break away centre caters for both children and adults with a mild to moderate degree of intellectual disability, who attend at least once every month for a minimum of a two night break away.There is a wide range of activities available to guests in Teach Saoire. At present, there are 50 individuals availing of holiday breaks in Teach Saoire.
Guests are encouraged to choose the activities they would like to partake of while on a Teach Saoire holiday break.
Teach Saoire aims to promote a safe and secure home away from home environment. The overall objective of Teach Saoire is to provide a person centred approach to individuals needs, taking into account each individuals ability, while helping to promote independence. To provide opportunities for individuals availing of the service to socialise with their friends and also to form new friendships. To enhance quality of life for the individuals and their families.

There is a wide range of activities available to guests in Teach Saoire. Guests are encouraged to choose the activities they would like to partake of while on a Teach Saoire holiday break.
