McCormack House was established in September 1983 and was named after the late John McCormack, hence the name McCormack house.
The day activity unit was opened for adults and adolescents with severe to profound intellectual disabilities.
The primary aim of McCormack House is to provide a day service for adults who have high needs in a high support setting.
Overview of Unit Activities:
Activities within the unit include the following:
- Outings usually once a week to various locations within the community.
- Art work.
- Computers.
- Multi-sensory room (which is decorated for each season).
- Reflexology, pampering – foot spa’s, hand massage.
- Cooking.
- Walks in sensory gardens.
This programme is designed to provide for the emotional, intellectual, social and physical needs of the individual with a view to maximising the person’s potential as a valued member of our society.
